Energy Conversion and Storage Days
Energy Conversion and Storage Days is a three-day event organised by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Karlsruhe from 21 to 23 March 2023.
Programme:
The SUPEERA workshop "Bringing research and industry closer: ES and PV" on March 21, 2023, aims to foster dialogue between research and industry in energy storage and solar photovoltaics. The workshop will explore cooperation practices, innovation opportunities, and successful implementation examples of innovation and implementation from Germany, with the potential for replication in other regions to trigger investments in low-carbon technologies.
On March 22, The "Succeeding with Scale-up of Energy Materials" workshop will take place.
“Succeeding with Scale-up of Energy Materials” aims to address the challenges facing large-scale commercialization of renewable energy conversion and storage technologies. This workshop will focus on electrochemical materials fabrication processes for hydrogen technologies and electrochemical batteries, discussing case studies and optimization efforts. Integrating AI/ML models and FAIR data intelligence with cost modelling methodologies can greatly assist in developing new electrochemical materials from design to integration and full scale-up.
Another workshop will take place on the same day - "Energy System Benchmarking for Hybrid Storage: Performance Indicators and Application Areas".
The workshop will discuss the potential of combining electrical and thermal energy storage components with hybrid storage and the difficulty of establishing simple performance indicators for such applications. The StoRIES project will present preliminary results on the development of reference cases and key performance indicators for benchmarking hybrid storage. The workshop aims to invite debate on how to benchmark systems can accelerate technology development and road mapping.
The last day is dedicated to the “Application for Hybrid Energy Storage”.
Experts from the StoRIES project, the FLORES network, and the Joint Programme Energy Storage of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA JP ES) will join industry and research experts in discussing current and future applications for hybrid energy storage during a workshop. This workshop, which is part of an EU-funded research infrastructure project on hybrid energy storage systems, will also include partners from around 15 EU-funded projects focused on flow battery technology.
